The revision of a company’s logo is often the result - and the symbol - of bigger changes! This is true in our case, and we’re therefore excited to reveal our new logo as part of the ongoing evolution of our brand and to tell you why it matters. When we launched Virtual Beings 6 years ago, very few people believed that games need premium AI characters. The tide has turned and we’re seeing interest on a daily basis from metaverse professionals and curious laypeople who reach out to see who we are and what exactly we do. The story behind our new logo gives us a great occasion to answer these questions. Who we are
When people hear the word ‘AI’, they primarily think of tech and science-fiction. Virtual Beings is a different kind of AI company, with one leg firmly rooted in cutting-edge tech and the other in psychological research and its industrial counterpart, user experience (UX) design. Many successful games, including Genshin Impact and Pokémon GO, already feature AI characters. They look cool yet are still very simple and pre-scripted in their behavior and interactivity. To us, captivating AI characters aren’t just a cool new addition to next-gen games. They are an experiential necessity for immersive virtual worlds, whatever their purpose. The real world is a social place and it’s full of life, and we believe that digital life should be complementary to people’s real lives. They should be able to experience the same level of immersion and emotions in both worlds. At Virtual Beings, our mission is to bring the joy of interacting with, caring for and (when appropriate) owning believable characters to the digital world. While our beings can be both human and non-human, virtual pets are a logical starting point. Our domestic friends give us more than just entertainment, as they provide companionship as well as empathy, and contribute to our feeling of belonging. That’s what we’re bringing to the metaverse. What we do
Virtual Beings develops premium AI characters as a turnkey solution for games and the metaverse. Our characters are believable, deeply interactive, fully customizable and run on any platform including XR, mobile and PC. Creating better AI characters turned out to be a formidable technical challenge, and until 2020 our operations consisted essentially of R&D where we solved some of the hardest problems that have held back the field of game AI for years.
Beginning in 2020 we applied our tech to a first product, a mobile game made for cat lovers: Tender Paws: A Home For Cats. Since its announcement, we received a lot of support and love from our fans and the public. The game is currently in closed alpha. Since early 2022, we have started to work with other companies to develop premium AI characters for them. We’re also exploring opportunities with brands which are planning to enter into the metaverse. The end-game here is nothing less than democratizing access to premium AI characters. We believe that such characters will help unlock new game genres, new forms of entertainment and learning, and even entirely new ways of interactive storytelling. Just imagine one day being able to spend quality time with a believable, fully interactive version of Mickey Mouse, Thor or your very own NFT-enabled unicorn. It’s time for a revolution. Virtual Beings is a startup that stands on two feet: AI and psychology, or technology and empathy. We wanted to have a logo that reflected this duality and that thereby aligns with our mission and values. The feather-tail We decided to use a 3D element to symbolise virtual life. It had to be both elegant and soft, both playful and techy. We love how the new logo evokes both a feather and a tail - both come from creatures we’ve already built.
The lettering Innovative AI is the core of our tech and our business. We’re specialized in behavioral AI, which is what differentiates us from the competitors.
Color palette The core duality between psychology and AI is also reflected in the choice of colours. The bright orange represents warmth, empathy and joy, whereas blue symbolises technology and problem-solving. Of those two, psychology always comes first. Tech is the servant, empathy and design set the tone.
We believe that the metaverse will be full of virtual life. As a growing startup in this space, clarity of focus is key in order to help our clients succeed. Sometimes, clarity of focus can come from something as simple as a logo.
